Working together to implement the Global Goals: a best practice example. How cities in Limburg can learn from cities in NRW, Germany who took a network governance approach to SDG implementation.
Network Governance for the SDGs of Cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany as best practice example for Limburg. The session will focus on local SDG implementation and consists of two parts: first, Franziska Houben will provide some insights into her master thesis research on network governance for the implementation of the SDGs on the municipal level in the Federal State of NRW, Germany. The research analysed the network governance settings in municipalities participating in the project “Global Nachhaltige Kommune NRW”, in which integrated municipal sustainability strategies were developed. Second, we would like to discuss the relevance of the approach taken in the NRW project for cities in the Limburg region.
